Hours of work
Full-time: | 37 Hours per week |
Salary | Non Accredited –£24,000 p.a Accredited* – £27,000 p.a *On completion of relevant role-related accreditation |
Location: | Flexible, with proximity to Portsmouth preferred. Hybrid or Home working available depending on location. Some travel to main office (Portsmouth) will be required. Induction will be at our Portsmouth office. |
Contract: | Until August 2026 – continuation subject to funding. |
The Role
Aurora New Dawn is a registered charity providing support and advocacy to victims and survivors of domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence. In 2017, we launched our Armed Forces Advocacy Service, and have been providing bespoke support to the Armed Forces Community ever since.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual, with an understanding of the specific needs or armed forces personnel and/or their families, to join our Armed Forces Advocacy Service (AFAS). This post involves working with victims who have links to the Royal Navy.
As an Armed Forces Advocate you will:
- Provide direct support to victims (16+) of domestic abuse, sexual violence and/or stalking who have links to the armed forces.
- Work alongside other professionals to identify and address the safety and support needs of your clients.
- Provide emotional and practical support and information, including in relation to legal options, housing, health and finance.
- Advocate for your clients with relevant agencies, ensuring that they receive the right support at the right time.
- Assist the wider team in the delivery of training and awareness-raising across the armed forces community.
