Armed Forces Helpline Worker

Details:  

Part-Time: 27 Hours per week 

Salary: £24,000 pro rata 

Location: Home working* – there will be a requirement for occasional working in our Head Office in Portsmouth. *Induction maybe be at our Portsmouth office.  

Contract: Until 24th February 2027 – continuation subject to funding. 

NB: This post is within a team of two helpline workers sharing a two-week rotation rota. These hours will include weekdays, evenings, bank holidays and Sundays. Four shifts per week. 

Role:  

Aurora New Dawn is a registered charity providing support and advocacy to survivors of domestic abuse, stalking and sexual violence.  

The successful candidate will:  

• Provide a high-quality service (information, advice, and support) to victims/survivors of domestic abuse, sexual violence and/or stalking (aged 16+).  

• Offer emotional support to victims of abuse. 

• Offer information in the form of signposting/referral to support services.  

• Offer this support through a variety of methods such as telephone, text, and online support.  

• The service will be working specifically within an armed forces (army) remit, as follows:   

  • Where the victim is a serving member of the army.  
  • Where the alleged perpetrator(s) is a serving member of the army.
